Because of the children so this trip to Beijing chose a travel agency. I will share my five-day trip with my children in Beijing and experience, I hope to help readers. Also be cautious of tours with very low prices, some of them may take you shopping or have some hidden consumption.
Day1: Arrival in Beijing by airplane
The travel agency has pick-up service, commercial car directly to the hotel. There is no itinerary on the first day, so we can arrange our own activities, taking a rest in the hotel or strolling around the neighborhood.
Day2: The Great Wall - Bird's Nest Water Cube - Shichahai
After breakfast at the hotel in the morning, the driver and the tour guide will wait at the door. We drove to the Great Wall. The weather was good and it was a sunny day. We chose to climb the South Tower, and there were fewer people.
Walked around the Bird's Nest and Water Cube in the afternoon.
It is recommended to go to Shichahai at sunset to watch the beautiful sunset. The snacks we had at Huguo Temple in the evening were pea yellow, fried noodles, lamb skewers, and candied haws. Pea yellow was good.
Day3: Watching the flag raising - Forbidden City - Temple of Heaven - Nanluoguxiang
Because we wanted to watch the flag-raising ceremony, we drove from the hotel to Tiananmen Square very early. We started a long queue for security check and finally saw the mighty guard team raising the national flag. All the waiting was worth it.
After the flag-raising ceremony, we went to Chairman Mao Memorial Hall and then visited the Forbidden City. There were tour guides explaining the whole way, and we felt the strong cultural and historical atmosphere in the Forbidden City. After more than two hours of sightseeing, the driver drove us to a very authentic Beijing restaurant.
We were full and energetic. We went to visit the Temple of Heaven in the afternoon. The weather in Beijing has been very good recently, and we also took many classic photos of the Temple of Heaven. When visiting the Temple of Heaven, I felt that the energy here was very strong, and I felt comfortable and happy unconsciously.
Go to Lanluoguxiang at night, where ancient architecture is combined with modern culture. There are many shops to explore, where you can have dinner and buy some tourist souvenirs.
Day4: Summer Palace - Yuanmingyuan - Tsinghua University - Railway Museum
First of all, we visited the Summer Palace in the morning. We visited the Long Corridor, Kunming Lake, Buddhist Incense Pavilion and other famous attractions. We strolled through this beautiful park that combines nature and artificial buildings, and felt the tranquility and magnificence of the royal garden.
Starting from the Summer Palace, we drove to Yuanmingyuan. Today, Yuanmingyuan is a ruin, leaving many traces of history. Visit the ruins park to learn about the historical tragedy of this "Garden of Ten Thousand Gardens". It can also let children understand this period of history and feel the regret.
In the afternoon, go to Tsinghua University. As one of the top universities in China, Tsinghua University is not only famous for its outstanding academic reputation, but also for the fusion of classical and modern buildings on campus, and the scenery is pleasant. We strolled around the campus and appreciated the long culture and modern atmosphere of this university.
Because the child is a train fan, we arranged to go to the Railway Museum. The first floor is the history of the railway, the second floor is various train models and high-speed rail introductions, and the underground first floor is the railway station models of various cities and various railway sand table models. But you must make an appointment in advance. No one is allowed after 4:30 and the museum closes at 5:30.
Day5, East Suburb Railway Museum
Considering the needs of the children, the fifth day was mainly a relaxing tour. Only the East Suburb Railway Museum was arranged. The children knew all kinds of locomotives. They also met a volunteer tour group from a primary school. They stood in front of the locomotives and told the tourists who walked in front of them like NPCs.
