As an international aviation hub, Beijing is connected to many cities around the world by direct flights. In addition, you can also choose to arrive in Beijing conveniently by high-speed train, such as from Shanghai (about 5-6 hours), Xi'an (about 5.5 hours) and Guangzhou (about 8-9.5 hours).

Jingshan Park: Enjoy panoramic views of the Forbidden City from this scenic park.

Great Wall: Visit the majestic Great Wall at Mutianyu, with entrance and cable car tickets included, allowing you to experience this wonder of the world up close.

You will take an easy cable car up to the Great Wall. Next you will climb up to the city tower overlooking the majestic Great Wall, which will surely make your stay unforgettable. After the Great Wall tour, we will take the cable car down the mountain.

(Note: If you are physically fit, you can also choose to hike up and down the mountain to feel the sense of accomplishment of climbing to the top).

Bird's Nest and Water Cube: Conclude your day with an exterior visit to these iconic Olympic structures, symbolizing modern Beijing.

High-speed Train to Xi'an: Board a high-speed train (approximately 5 hours) for a comfortable journey to Xi'an. After arrival, enjoy some free time to explore the city at your leisure.

Terracotta Warriors and Horses: Visit the world-famous archaeological site, witnessing the impressive army of life-sized warriors. These Terracotta Warriors were built by China's first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, to protect him in the afterlife. Over 8,000 life-size terracotta figurines, horses and chariots were buried underground for over 2,000 years until they were discovered in 1974. Standing in front of these spectacular statues, you will be awed by the ambition of Emperor Qin Shi Huang and the skill of ancient Chinese artisans. 

For lunch, you will enjoy Xi'an's specialty, water basin mutton(Shuipen Yangrou).

Da Ci'en Temple: Explore this historic temple complex. 

Big Wild Goose Pagoda: Admire this iconic Buddhist pagoda, a symbol of Xi'an. If you are interested, you can climb the Big Wild Goose Pagoda (extra charge applies) for a great view of the city.

Grand Tang Dynasty Ever Bright City: Enjoy a vibrant evening in this lively area. It is a unique Tang Dynasty cultural theme imitation complex in China, where you can enjoy rich singing and dancing performances and charming night scenery.

Giant Panda Breeding Research Base: Begin your day exploring this remarkable archaeological site, revealing ancient Shu civilization.

Lunch: Sample a variety of Chengdu snacks in Panda Base

Wenshu Monastery: Shuyuan is the most well-preserved Buddhist temple in Chengdu. It faces south and is built in the typical ancient style of the western Sichuan plain, mainly wooden structures. There are six levels of temples. From the entrance, you can see the Heavenly King Hall, the Three Great Bodhisattvas Hall, the Great Hall, the Dharma Hall, and the Sutra Library. You can not only see the wisdom and craftsmanship of the ancient craftsmen reflected in the architecture, but also experience the intangible cultural heritage of "Sichuan Opera Face Changing"

Jiuyan Bridge: Take a stroll along this charming street lined with pubs and night food stalls. There are a variety of pub options and a rich variety of Chengdu snacks and delicacies.

After breakfast,we will head to Qibao Ancient Town, which is located in Qibao Ancient Town, Minhang District, Shanghai, only 18 kilometers away from the center of Shanghai. It is an ancient town in the south of the Yangtze River with a history of 1780. Now it is centered on Qibao Old Street and has been built into a commercial tourist attraction integrating leisure, tourism and shopping. You can feel the combination of ancient and modern culture here.

After lunch, we will enjoy a visit to the Jade Buddha Temple, known for its stunning jade statues.

Then Explore the artsy area of Tianzifang, filled with boutique shops and cafes.

Independent travel by train in China can be daunting ordeal. We decided to use Intoexplore for booking the trip and are very happy we did. It almost felt like Norman was a family member guiding us through how to use Alipay for payments in China to where to find the ticket office in the train station to convert digital tickets to paper. He was always available (sometimes at 6 am!) to answer any question and solve any problems that arose .. I would strongly recommend him to anyone who is thinking about independent travel to China .
