Arrival in Kunming Welcome to Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province and known as the "City of Eternal Spring." After your arrival, enjoy a leisurely day exploring the city at your own pace. Recommended attractions include:

Jinbi Archway (Biji Fang): A landmark archway symbolizing the prosperity of Kunming, surrounded by shopping streets and local eateries.

Wenming Street Historic District: A charming area filled with traditional buildings, bookshops, teahouses, and local Yunnan specialties.

Kunming Old Street: A network of old alleys preserving the cultural essence of the city with local crafts, snacks, and architecture.

Morning: Dian Lake (Dianchi): One of the largest freshwater lakes in Yunnan, often called "the pearl on the plateau." Enjoy walking along its banks and seeing seagulls during the right season. Yuantong Temple: The oldest and most famous Buddhist temple in Kunming, dating back over 1,200 years. Nestled in a peaceful setting, it features intricate architecture and serene gardens.

Afternoon: Green Lake Park (Cuihu Park): A tranquil urban park popular with locals. Surrounded by willow trees and pavilions, it's a perfect place to relax and watch local dancers and musicians. Stone Forest (Shilin): A UNESCO World Heritage Site located about 90 km from Kunming. This massive karst landscape features towering limestone pillars that resemble a forest made of stone, formed over millions of years.

Afternoon: Dukezong Ancient Town: A 1,300-year-old Tibetan town featuring traditional wooden houses, cobblestone streets, and the world’s largest Tibetan prayer wheel. A great place to learn about Tibetan culture and history. Napa Lake (Napahai): A seasonal lake and wetland nature reserve surrounded by meadows and snow-capped mountains. Depending on the season, you can see herds of yaks or migratory birds.

Afternoon: Pudacuo National Park: China’s first national park, home to pristine lakes, alpine meadows, and ancient forests. Hike along boardwalks through Bita Lake and Shudu Lake, where you can appreciate the region’s ecological diversity and breathtaking landscapes.

They did a great job planning my family holiday and supported us every step of the way. They put together a 14-day private tour for us, taking into account all our requests and requirements.In every city we visited, there was a reliable driver, a very nice car, and a guide to assist us throughout the day. Independent travel by train in China can be daunting ordeal. We decided to use Intoexplore for booking the trip and are very happy we did. It almost felt like Norman was a family member guiding us through how to use Alipay for payments in China to where to find the ticket office in the train station to convert digital tickets to paper. He was always available (sometimes at 6 am!) to answer any question and solve any problems that arose .. I would strongly recommend him to anyone who is thinking about independent travel to China .
