Not far from the central street is the Hagia Sophia, a Byzantine-style Orthodox church built in 1907, which is imposing and full of art. The stone carvings on the façade include classic phoenix motifs, detailed patterns and decorations, showing exquisite artistic craftsmanship. The frescoes and reliefs inside are more elaborate and detailed, depicting stories from the Bible, the history of Christianity, and images of saints.
