Baiyun Mountain

Baiyun Mountain

1. Historical background:

Baiyun Mountain Scenic Area is the first of the new "Eight Scenic Spots of Guangzhou", a national 5A-level scenic spot and a national key scenic spot. It is located in the north of Guangzhou, about 17 kilometers away from the city. It is the southern extension of the Jiulian Mountains and is known as the "No. 1 Mountain in Nanyue". The entire Baiyun Mountain covers an area of 28 square kilometers. Its highest peak, Moxingling, is 382 meters above sea level, the highest peak in Guangzhou. Whenever the sky clears after rain or in late spring, white clouds linger in the mountains, which is a spectacle. The name of Baiyun Mountain comes from this.

2. Main scenic spots:

a. Luhu Scenic Area

Luhu Tourist Area is the first tourist area at the southern end of Baiyun Mountain Scenic Area. Luhu Park was built in 1958 and is located at the southern foot of Baiyun Mountain. There are lakes, curved bridges, pavilions, and ancient temples on the foot of the foot, so it is named Luhu Park. It covers an area of 3.7 square kilometers. It is the largest open and multi-functional park in Guangzhou.

b. Santailing Scenic Area

The largest garden-style garden in China, which is mainly for enjoying the precious flowers and trees of the four seasons. It is located in Santailing, Baiyun Mountain, covers an area of 120,000 square meters. It is based on the world-famous garden-Butchart Gardens in Canada. It was designed by Guangzhou Garden Architecture Design Institute. The Guangzhou Municipal Government invested more than 50 million yuan in planning and construction in 1993 and opened on September 28, 1995. There are 14 novel and elegant scenic spots in the garden.

c. Mingchun Valley Scenic Area

Mingchun Valley Scenic Area includes Pu Valley, Nengren Temple, Maori Sports Cultural Village, Tiannan First Peak, Baiyun Evening View, Baiyun Morning View, Mingchun Valley, Dishui Rock, Cuiwei Ancient Road and other scenic spots. Due to the concentration of scenic spots, convenient transportation, and easy access, it is the tourist area with the largest passenger flow.

d. Moxingling Scenic Area

Moxingling, formerly known as Biyun Peak, is located between Su Family Temple and Longhugang in Baiyun Mountain. It is the highest peak of Baiyun Mountain, with an altitude of 382 meters. It is the highest of more than 30 peaks in Baiyun Mountain. The gate tower of Moxingling can be reached from Qixialing.

e. Mingzhu Tower Scenic Area

Mingzhu Tower Tourist Area is located in the northwest of Baiyun Mountain, covering an area of about 8 square kilometers, west to the west gate of Baiyun Mountain, east to Dangxiong Pavilion, south to the leisure belt, and north to the plum garden area. We had a very memorable experience in Xi’An thanks to the expertise and helpfulness from Norman, who helped us planned our trip, and Waldener, our local tour guide from Into Explore. Norman helped us with the itinerary and bookings of transport and accommodations so it was stress free for me. He asked us our preferences when making the rooms reservation to cater to what we like and recommended the best way and places to explore this city. Our tour guide was also flexible with our schedule so we were able to do what we wanted and working around the weather. We were supposed to go Mt Hua on the 2nd day of our tour but it was forecasted to rain. He switched our itinerary around so we could climb Mt Hua on the 3rd day instead when the rain had stopped. Thank you Into Explore for giving us peace of mind to sit back and enjoy our vacation.

Independent travel by train in China…
Independent travel by train in China can be daunting ordeal. We decided to use Intoexplore for booking the trip and are very happy we did. It almost felt like Norman was a family member guiding us through how to use Alipay for payments in China to where to find the ticket office in the train station to convert digital tickets to paper. He was always available (sometimes at 6 am!) to answer any question and solve any problems that arose .. I would strongly recommend him to anyone who is thinking about independent travel to China .
