Kaiyuan Temple, located in Quanzhou City, Fujian Province, is a significant cultural relic and an important Buddhist temple in southeast China. With a history spanning over 1300 years, it is one of the largest Buddhist temples in Fujian Province. Kaiyuan Temple occupies an area of 78,000 square meters and features a grand and ancient architectural style. The temple was initially named "Lotus Temple" when it was first established in 686 AD (during the second year of the Chuigong reign period of the Tang Dynasty). It was renamed Kaiyuan Temple in 738 AD (the 26th year of the Kaiyuan reign period of the Tang Dynasty), following an imperial edict ordering the construction of a Kaiyuan Temple in every prefecture nationwide.
