The Summer Palace, located about 15 kilometers northwest of Beijing, is a sprawling royal garden and a UNESCO World Heritage Site that exemplifies the art of Chinese landscape design. Originally built in the 18th century, it served as a summer retreat for the Qing Dynasty emperors, providing a serene escape from the heat of the city.
Covering an area of approximately 740 acres, the Summer Palace features a beautiful combination of lakes, gardens, and palatial architecture. The centerpiece of the palace is Kunming Lake, which is dotted with charming islands and picturesque bridges, while Longevity Hill rises majestically in the background.
