Tianmen Mountain, located in Zhangjiajie, Hunan Province, is renowned for its stunning natural beauty and unique geological features. Rising to an elevation of 1,518 meters (4,978 feet), it is famous for its dramatic cliffs, lush forests, and the iconic Tianmen Cave, a natural rock arch that resembles a gateway to heaven.
Visitors can access the mountain via a thrilling cable car ride, one of the longest in the world, which offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. Once at the top, there are numerous hiking trails, including the renowned Glass Skywalk, which allows visitors to walk along a transparent path that clings to the mountain’s edge.
Tianmen Mountain Ropeway is one of the longest alpine passenger ropeways in the world, with a total length of 7,455 meters and a one-way running time of about 28 minutes. Taking the ropeway can overlook the magnificent scenery of the whole Tianmen Mountain.
