After breakfast, you will begin the day's adventure in Lhasa. First you will visit the majestic Potala Palace, which has spanned more than 1,300 years and still stands proudly in the skies of Lhasa. It is not only the political center of Tibet, but also a holy place of religion, which was once the temple of the Dalai Lama to rule and preach Buddhism.
In the afternoon, we turn to the most sacred Buddhist temple in Tibet - Jokhang Temple. Jokhang Temple is one of the most revered and important religious sites in Tibetan Buddhism. Built in the 7th century by King Songtsen Gampo, it houses a sacred statue of the Buddha - the life-size image of 8-year-old Jowa Sakyamuni, believed to be the most venerated image of the Buddha in Tibet. The temple's architecture is a blend of Indian, Nepalese, and Tibetan styles, with intricate woodwork, golden roofs, and detailed murals. As the spiritual center of Tibetan Buddhism, constant swarms of pilgrims from different parts of Tibet come to Jokhang, and prostrate outside the temple to the Buddha.

Finally, stroll along Barkhor Street, a bustling market where you can shop for Tibetan handicrafts and savor local snacks.

In addition, it is a wonderful place to visit remarkable Tibetan Buddhist buildings, as this is the garden with the most beautiful buildings in Tibet.

Here, the red and white ancient buildings and the beauty of the surrounding valleys are sure to make your stay unforgettable.

Afterwards, you will continue along the National Highway 318, which is known as "China's most beautiful scenic highway", a magnificent highway that crosses the mountains and connects heaven and earth. After breakfast, you will head to Lulang Forest. Along the way, Sejila Mountain (4720 meters above sea level) will be your first viewpoint, inviting you to stop for a moment and let your mind climb with your eyes to embrace the distant and solemn Namcha Barwa Peak (7700 meters above sea level). This sacred mountain is not only the holy place of the ancient Tibetan Buddhism "Yongzhong Buddhism", but also carries multiple meanings in the Tibetan language - "the spear that pierces the sky" and the "burning in the thunder and lightning". "Thunder and lightning in the burning flame", each title speaks of its unspeakable sacred and magnificent.

"Lulang", which means "Valley of the Dragon King" or "Abode of the Immortals" in Tibetan, seems to be a masterpiece carefully carved by nature, and every part of it exudes a refreshing charm. It seems to be a masterpiece carefully carved by nature, and every part of the place exudes the charm of being refreshing and relaxing. Towering mountains stand like guardian spirits; lush trees weave a sea of green; wildflowers dot the landscape, exuding a burst of fragrance; streams gurgle and meander, singing joyful songs; the grass is vast and soft, inviting you to lie down and feel the pulsation of the earth; and the quiet village is like the finishing touch to the picture, adding a little bit of earthly flavors.

After the sightseeing tour comes to an end, you will drive home, only about 53 kilometers (about 1 hour drive), you will arrive at Bayi Town, where comfortable accommodation is ready for you, waiting for the perfect end of your journey.

Day 6: Linzhi

  • World Cypress King Garden - Basomtso Lake

  • 4+stars Hotel

  • Breakfast

After breakfast, you will go to the World Cypress King Garden. In the depths of this ancient garden, there stands a heavenly cypress, which is not only a witness of time, but also a miracle of life - nearly 50 meters high, with an astonishing diameter of 14.8 meters at breast height, and is estimated to have endured 3238 years of wind, rain and snow, whose magnificence and vicissitudes of life will make you stand in awe.

Afterwards, you will drive through the winding mountain road, about 135 kilometers (estimated time consumed 2 hours), Basomtso Lake will welcome you with its unique serenity and beauty. This lake is like a sparkling sapphire inlaid between the mountains, the 18-kilometer-long shoreline of the lake outlines its elegant outline, the lake surface is vast, covering an area of 27 square kilometers, and the deepest part of the lake is even more profound and unfathomable, reaching 120 meters. Above the lake, the altitude of 3480 meters above sea level gives it an extraordinary temperament, surrounded by snow-covered mountains, distant glaciers and lush trees along the shoreline, as if they were carefully arranged, reflected in the crystal clear lake, constituting a stirring picture scroll.

Particularly striking is the mysterious island in the center of the lake, on which stands a solemn Lamaist temple, adding a few more sacred and quiet. Walking around the lake or taking a boat ride on the water will give you a deep sense of peace and harmony from nature.

As the sun sets, you will drive back to Bayi Town, where you can rest in cozy and comfortable accommodations.

Special thanks to my guide, Sofia. It's really hard for me to find a Spanish tour guide. She is professional and I have a good understanding about the China culture under her guide. During the Xi'an trip, I was shocked by the strong atmosphere of culture. I hope I can go next time, really love it.

Independent travel by train in China…
Independent travel by train in China can be daunting ordeal. We decided to use Intoexplore for booking the trip and are very happy we did. It almost felt like Norman was a family member guiding us through how to use Alipay for payments in China to where to find the ticket office in the train station to convert digital tickets to paper. He was always available (sometimes at 6 am!) to answer any question and solve any problems that arose .. I would strongly recommend him to anyone who is thinking about independent travel to China .
