Welcome to Lhasa, our guide and driver will pick you up and transfer you to next destination. After a few hours' drive, you will arrive at the town of Zedang in Shannan. This place, one of the birthplaces of the ancient Tibetan civilization, has a long history and deep cultural heritage.

After breakfast, you will proceed to visit the famous Yonbulakorn. This palace carries a long history of Tibet and is known as the first palace in Tibetan history. Built in the second century BC, it witnessed the rise and prosperity of Tibetan culture. Inside the palace, there are many precious ancient sculptures and paintings on display, which vividly show the life and beliefs of the ancient Tibetan people, making you feel as if you have traveled through time and space to that mysterious and distant era.

Immediately after, you will head to the second attraction to be visited - Changchu Monastery. This temple is famous for its unique architectural style and precious relics. Here, you will witness the stunning pearl thangka. Adorned with a total of 29,026 exquisite pearls, this thangka glitters and radiates a mesmerizing luster. Each pearl has been carefully selected and inlaid, showcasing the skill of the artisans. Pearl thangka is not only a treasure of Buddhist art, but also a crystallization of Tibetan people's wisdom and culture.

In the afternoon, you will visit Sangye Monastery, the "First Tibetan Buddhist Monastery". This monastery has stood on the land of Tibet for more than 1,200 years and is an important holy place of Tibetan Buddhism. The architecture of Sangye Monastery is unique, built exactly according to the cosmic structure described by Buddhist theory, blending Tibetan, Chinese and Indian architectural features. The halls, Buddha statues and murals in the monastery are filled with a strong religious atmosphere and deep cultural connotation. Strolling in the monastery, you can not only enjoy the charm of Buddhist art, but also feel the Tibetan people's devout faith and admiration for Buddhism.

Today, you will travel to Lhasa, the political and cultural center of the Tibet Autonomous Region. Along the way, the Yarlung Tsangpo River meanders, leading your journey, and a visual and spiritual double feast is waiting for your presence - that is, the Yamdrok Yongtso Lake.

Yangzuo Yongtso, located at an altitude of 4441 meters between the mountains, known as the "three sacred lakes" in a bright pearl, known for its unparalleled beauty. Lake turquoise and clear, like a huge emerald set between the snow-capped mountains, and the surrounding snow-capped formed a sharp and harmonious contrast, breathtaking.

Lake, scattered with a few quiet and peaceful Tibetan villages, they rely on the mountains and water, patchwork set in the flat valley. Here, you can witness the picture of Tibetan people living in harmony with nature and feel the simplicity and innocence.

In addition, on the grassland beside the lake, yaks and sheep enjoy the gifts of nature leisurely, constituting a vivid and harmonious picture of idyllic scenery. Such scenes will undoubtedly make your journey more colorful and impressive.

After breakfast, you will begin the day's adventure in Lhasa. First you will visit the majestic Potala Palace, which has spanned more than 1,300 years and still stands proudly in the skies of Lhasa. It is not only the political center of Tibet, but also a holy place of religion, which was once the temple of the Dalai Lama to rule and preach Buddhism.


In the afternoon, we turn to the most sacred Buddhist temple in Tibet - Jokhang Temple. Jokhang Temple is one of the most revered and important religious sites in Tibetan Buddhism. Built in the 7th century by King Songtsen Gampo, it houses a sacred statue of the Buddha - the life-size image of 8-year-old Jowa Sakyamuni, believed to be the most venerated image of the Buddha in Tibet. The temple's architecture is a blend of Indian, Nepalese, and Tibetan styles, with intricate woodwork, golden roofs, and detailed murals. As the spiritual center of Tibetan Buddhism, constant swarms of pilgrims from different parts of Tibet come to Jokhang, and prostrate outside the temple to the Buddha.


Finally, stroll along Barkhor Street, a bustling market where you can shop for Tibetan handicrafts and savor local snacks.

After breakfast, we will embark on a new journey with our first stop at Norbulingka Park - known as the Summer Palace of the Dalai Lama - the most splendid oasis in Dhaxi Tibet.

Continuing westward for about 5 kilometers you will arrive at the Drepung Monastery. In its heyday, more than 10,000 monks studied here. On festive occasions, the monastery organizes grand Buddhist ceremonies, the most spectacular being the annual presentation of the Buddha statue at the Songtung Festival.

Then turn our attention to the 600-year-old Sera Monastery, famous for its grand Buddhist ceremonies and exquisite architecture.

Amaging Exploring Shenzen

Independent travel by train in China…
Independent travel by train in China can be daunting ordeal. We decided to use Intoexplore for booking the trip and are very happy we did. It almost felt like Norman was a family member guiding us through how to use Alipay for payments in China to where to find the ticket office in the train station to convert digital tickets to paper. He was always available (sometimes at 6 am!) to answer any question and solve any problems that arose .. I would strongly recommend him to anyone who is thinking about independent travel to China .
