Lijiang Shangrila Chengdu 7-Day Tour

This seven-day adventure unveils the breathtaking diversity of Southwest China, blending ancient towns, Himalayan landscapes, and vibrant urban energy. Begin in Lijiang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where cobbled streets wind beneath traditional Naxi architecture. The scent of rose pastries mingles with the sound of murmuring canals, while the majestic Jade Dragon Snow Mountain looms in the distance, its glacier-capped peaks shimmering against cobalt skies. Nearby, the Blue Moon Valley enchants with turquoise pools reflecting alpine meadows—a scene so surreal it feels plucked from a fantasy.

Ascend further into the clouds to Shangri-La, where Tibetan culture permeates the thin mountain air. Prayer flags flutter across the Songzanlin Monastery, their vibrant colors contrasting with golden temple roofs. Yak butter tea warms your hands as you explore this "Little Potala," while locals spin prayer wheels along Dukezong’s ancient stone paths. Beyond town, Potatso National Park reveals mirror-like lakes encircled by primeval forests, where rare black-necked cranes glide across wetlands. The region’s spiritual serenity lingers long after departure.

Your journey culminates in Chengdu, where the pace quickens amid spicy aromas and teahouse chatter. At the Panda Base, watch roly-poly cubs tumble over bamboo shoots, their playful antics showcasing China’s conservation triumphs. As night falls, the city’s hotpot beckons—a bubbling cauldron of chili-infused broth where locals bond over tender meats and fiery flavors. From the tranquility of Himalayan monasteries to Chengdu’s infectious zest for life, this itinerary weaves nature, culture, and culinary artistry into an unforgettable tapestry.

Climb the observation deck for panoramic views of terraced fields and snow-capped mountains. Stop at a local café for yak butter tea and tsampa to fuel up.

Beyond thrilling races, the event features traditional song-dance performances and local cuisine. Horse traders clad in finest furs or silks gather here, while families camp in tents on the festival meadow.

Afternoon: Explore Pudacuo National Park – China’s first national park on the mainland. Its Tibetan name means "the ferry that delivers all beings from suffering to the shore of liberation." Special thanks to my guide, Sofia. It's really hard for me to find a Spanish tour guide. She is professional and I have a good understanding about the China culture under her guide. During the Xi'an trip, I was shocked by the strong atmosphere of culture. I hope I can go next time, really love it.

Independent travel by train in China…
Independent travel by train in China can be daunting ordeal. We decided to use Intoexplore for booking the trip and are very happy we did. It almost felt like Norman was a family member guiding us through how to use Alipay for payments in China to where to find the ticket office in the train station to convert digital tickets to paper. He was always available (sometimes at 6 am!) to answer any question and solve any problems that arose .. I would strongly recommend him to anyone who is thinking about independent travel to China .
