After breakfast, we will head to Tongli Water Town, one of the most picturesque and well-preserved ancient water towns in China. Known as the 'Venice of the East,' Tongli features a network of canals, arched stone bridges, and traditional whitewashed houses. As you stroll through the town’s narrow alleys and over centuries-old bridges, you’ll experience the tranquil charm of Jiangnan’s water town lifestyle. Don’t miss a boat ride through the waterways to fully appreciate the town’s poetic scenery.
After exploring Tongli, we will return to Suzhou and visit the Lingering Garden (Liu Garden), one of the four most famous classical gardens in China. Built in the Qing Dynasty, the garden is known for its exquisite architecture, clever layout, and harmonious combination of buildings, water features, and rockeries. It offers a vivid representation of Chinese garden art, and every step reveals a new view.
Next, we will visit Shantang Street, a historic riverside street that dates back over a thousand years. This lively street runs alongside a canal and is lined with traditional Suzhou-style buildings, shops, teahouses, and street food stalls. It’s a perfect place to soak in the city’s cultural atmosphere, sample local snacks, and shop for souvenirs.
